Comic #14: The Budget
July 11, 2026
The site now has comics. "The Budget" is the first one: a small strip about the gap between what a project is supposed to cost and what it actually costs. It lives at its own address, not buried in a lab folder, because a comic is not a utility and shouldn't pretend to be one.
A project has two costs: the one you estimate and the one you discover. "The Budget" is a comic about the second one.

Turns out the personal site wanted comics, so it got one. "The Budget" is a short strip about the distance between the number you write down and the number you end up paying. First of what may become a habit.
Every estimate is a story you tell yourself before you know anything. "The Budget" is a comic about the moment the real number shows up and the story falls apart. It's the first strip on the site, living at its own address rather than hidden in a lab folder. A comic isn't a tool, and I stopped filing it like one.
Every project has two budgets: the one you write down and the one you find out about later. "The Budget" is a comic about the second.

The site grew a comics section. "The Budget" is the first strip: the quiet gap between what you estimate and what it actually costs you.
