An album · Jake Lawrence · 2026
A theme for every tool. Every tool on the Utilities hub has a theme written from its own name, in odd time, with the Fibonacci numbers doing the phrasing. This is all of them in a row, mastered, with a guitar tone that was not there when they were a button on a tool page.

Silent until you press play. A track is fetched only when you play it.
Nothing here is sampled, and no melody, riff or recording from any band is used. What it borrows from heavy, mathematical rock is a set of techniques that belong to nobody. The same tool id always writes the same song, and the music on each tool page is these same notes played live in your browser.
Odd time
Bars of nine, eight and seven eighth notes, twenty-four in all, so the downbeat keeps arriving a little early or a little late.
Fibonacci phrasing
Every bar is cut into groups of 1, 2, 3, 5 or 8 notes. The first note of a group is the low, heavy one.
Fibonacci pitch
After that low note, the line steps through a dark scale by Fibonacci numbers (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, then around again), so it takes sixteen notes to repeat.
Five against twenty-four
A click every five eighths. It lines up with the downbeat once every five cycles, which is the one place the song feels settled.
A song, not a loop
8 cycles in the shape of the sequence: intro 1, verse 1, chorus 2, solo 3, outro 1. The kit arrives at the verse, power chords at the chorus, a lead voice takes the walk for the solo.
The sound
Two double-tracked guitars panned hard left and right, a tight pre-gain filter so the low end stays defined, a kit with a beater click and toms, a plate on the snare and lead, then a limiter. All of it is oscillators and noise; there are no samples.
Every track above has an mp3 link (stereo, about 109 kbps, tagged with its title, track number and the tool's meter, key and tempo).
