Terms of service
This is a small personal site, so the rules are short and written to be read. Here is what you agree to by using it.

Using the site
jakelawrence.xyz is a personal site run by Jake Lawrence: essays, research, tools, games and a few private apps. Reading the public pages needs no account. By using the site you agree to these terms and to the privacy page, which together are the whole agreement between us about it. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Please don't break it, overload it, scrape it at a rate that slows it down, use it to harm anyone, or put malware, harassment or content you have no right to into it. If you find a security problem, email me and I'll thank you; please don't test it on other people's data.
The site is for people 13 and older. If you are under 18, use anything that costs money only with a parent or guardian's permission.
Accounts and sign-in
Some features need you to sign in with Google or an email link. Signing in with Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with this site, plus a Google account ID, so it can recognize you. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and you should give me accurate information. I can suspend or end an account that is abused or puts the site or other people at risk.
Separately, the site's administrator can connect their own Google Ads, Analytics and Search Console accounts to private admin tools. Visitors are never asked for that access. How that data is used, stored and removed is in the Google account data section of the privacy page. This site's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your content
What you put into the site (a to-do, a board, a message to the assistant, an uploaded file) stays yours. You give me a limited license to store it, process it (including with the AI providers described on the privacy page) and show it back to you and the people you share it with, as far as that is needed to run the feature you used. Backups may keep a copy for a while after you delete something.
A board you mark public, or a results link you share, can be seen by anyone who has the page or the link, and public pages may be indexed by search engines. Boards you don't mark public are not. Don't put in anything you don't have the right to share, anything unlawful, or anyone else's private information. I may remove content that breaks these terms.
My content and licenses
The writing, code, data and design here are mine unless a page says otherwise. Many pages and datasets carry their own license (for example CC BY 4.0), and that license wins over these terms for that material. Where a page has no license, you may link to it and quote it fairly with credit, but please ask before republishing it. Third-party names, marks and data belong to their owners.
If you think something on the site infringes your copyright, email me with the work, the page address, your contact details and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not allowed. I'll look at it promptly and may remove it, and may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
AI features
The assistant and some tools send what you type or upload to AI providers that process it for me, listed on the privacy page. Don't enter anything you wouldn't want processed by them. These tools can be wrong, so check anything that matters before you rely on it. Nothing here is legal, financial, medical or professional advice.
Paid offers
Paid offers (such as the fixed-scope work on Hire, and the credit packs on GraphMy whenever they are on sale) are paid through Stripe, whose own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment. The price and what you get are shown before you pay, and that is the deal. Card details go to Stripe, not to me; I keep a record of what you bought and the Stripe reference for it.
Refunds: if I can't deliver what an offer describes, I'll refund it. For anything else, email me and I'll look at each case fairly. Credits are tied to the verified email on your account and can't be transferred. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
Other companies' services
Stripe, Google, Resend (email), Vercel and the AI providers run under their own terms and privacy policies, which apply to you when you use them through the site. I don't control them and I'm not responsible for their services.
No warranty, limited liability
The site is a one-person project, offered as it is, with no guarantees. I try to keep it up and accurate, but I don't promise it will always be online, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and features may change or go away.
To the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses from using the site, and my total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid me for the thing the claim is about, or $100. This doesn't limit liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence or anything else the law doesn't allow me to limit. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Ending, changes, law and contact
You can stop using the site at any time, and you can email me to delete your account and content. I can suspend or end access to an account or a feature, with or without notice if it is abused or puts people at risk, or because I retire the feature. The parts about content, warranty, liability and law survive that.
I may update these terms. The date at the top changes when I do. For paid offers a change applies only to later purchases. If you don't agree with a change, stop using the site. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies, and not enforcing a term isn't giving it up.
These terms are governed by Illinois law, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you and I consent to those courts. This doesn't take away any right you have under the consumer-protection laws of the place you live.
