Your first build — a one-page guide

You are going to make a real, working web page today. You do not need to remember any of this. Keep this sheet next to you and follow it.

THE ONE HABIT THAT MATTERS

After the AI does anything, ask it: “In plain words, what did you just do?”

That one question is the whole secret. It turns “the computer made it” into “I made it” — and it is how you actually learn, instead of just watching.

The four steps

Tell it what you want to build. Type this, then put your own idea in the yellow part:

TYPE OR PASTE THIS EXACTLY:

Please build me a simple web page that says happy birthday to my granddaughter Mia with a photo. Keep it simple. Explain each step to me in plain words as you go.

Ask to see it. When it finishes, say:

TYPE OR PASTE THIS EXACTLY:

Show me how to open this and see it on my screen. Give me the exact buttons to click, one at a time.

Then follow its buttons. When your page appears — that is your moment. You built that.

Change one thing. Make it yours. Always say what you want, not how to do it:

TYPE OR PASTE THIS EXACTLY:

Please make the title bigger and change the background to soft blue. Then tell me what you changed.

Change something, look at it, change it again. Each change is you being the boss. The AI is your helper, not the other way around.

Send it to the person it’s for. When you like it:

TYPE OR PASTE THIS EXACTLY:

Please put this page on the internet so I can share it, and give me one link I can text to someone. Walk me through it one click at a time.

Then send the link to the person you made it for. That text back from them is the best part.

If something looks wrong — do not worry.

Nothing you type can break anything. You cannot make a real mistake here. When something looks off, just tell the AI in plain words and ask it to fix it:

That doesn’t look right. The photo is missing. Please fix it, and explain what went wrong.

If you feel stuck or confused, that is normal and it is not you. Stop, take your time, and ask your helper. There is no clock.

Words that always work

“Explain that again, more simply.”  — use this as often as you like.

“What should I do next?”  — when you’re not sure, just ask.

“Give me the exact buttons to click, one at a time.”

“Undo that last change, please.”

“In plain words, what did you just do?”  — the habit. Use it after every step.

Remember: you are the one deciding what to make. The AI just types for you. You are not too old for this, you are not behind, and you are not “bad with computers.” You are building something — for someone — today.
